Each month at The Pearl, we’ll choose a word we find inspiring, motivating or just plain thought-provoking, share our favorite quotes on the subject and find local events and community happenings that help apply these “pearls of wisdom” directly to your everyday.
Throughout the past month, the month of love and American Heart Month, we have been thinking a lot about the idea of heart.
On a very literal level, our hearts do some hard work on a daily basis. Having a healthy heart is vital to our survival, and is not something to be taken lightly. They pump blood to the rest of our bodies, and are left of center for everything we do.
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart.” – Helen Keller
But on a more abstract level, heart is what gives us meaning and a sense of purpose. Our heart guides us in a way that logic cannot touch. It shows us where our happiness lies, and connects us to other people.
Here at The Pearl, we’ve been dwelling on the idea of heart in relation to our new residents, and what they mean to us. We value the feelings of being happy, at home and connected to our community. Our residents, much like the heart, are at the center of everything we do.
February may be almost over, but we want to challenge our community, and ourselves, to continue doing more things with heart. In our day-to-day lives, it can be easy to lose sight of what inspires our passion, and how to uplift ourselves and others. So even as we approach a new month, try to lead more with your heart. Whether it is taking a little extra time out of your day to invest in a forgotten hobby (maybe swimming or stargazing on our rooftop?), asking a neighbor out to coffee (or a chat at our communal table), or even doing a kind deed for someone who might need it, we want to push our residents and ourselves to do more, and with heart.
Home is where the heart is, after all, and we want you to feel at home at The Pearl. This month, we invite you to follow your heart to new places and people, and learn more about our warm, welcoming community in Silver Spring. There’s no telling what new heights you could reach when you live wisely and lead with love.
“In every community, there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart, there is the power to do it.” – Marianne Williamson
